Clackamas Rep brings Man of La Mancha, winner of five Tony Awards, to the stage

OREGON CITY, Ore. — July 25, 2023 — Clackamas Repertory Theatre’s 19th season continues with the acclaimed musical Man of La Mancha, August 3 – 27 at Osterman Theatre on the campus of Clackamas Community College in Oregon City. Performances take place Thursday – Saturday at 7:30pm, with 2:30pm Sunday matinees. Tickets may be purchased at www.clackamasrep.org or by calling (503) 594-6047.

There will be a half-price preview performance August 3; opening night is August 5.

Inspired by Miguel De Cervantes’ masterwork Don Quixote, Man of La Mancha is set during the Spanish inquisition. The show features adventure, romance and a rousing Spanish-inflected score that includes the classic, The Impossible Dream. Clackamas Rep’s production includes a 10-piece band with the conductor on the piano.

Written by Dale Wasserman, with music by Mitch Leigh and lyrics by Joe Darion, Man of La Mancha won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Original Score, when it debuted in 1965.

Clackamas Rep’s production features Michael Sharon as Cervantes, Don Quixote and Alonso Quijana; Dave Cole as Sancho; Kelsey Hoeffel as Aldonza and Dulcinea; Austin Comfort as Anselmo and Juan; Jeremy Southard as the Innkeeper; Todd Hermanson as the Padre; Alan King as the Governor; Rich Cohn-Lee as the Duke and Carrasco; Lauren Allison as Antonia; and Daniel Bahr as the barber. Sharon and Comfort are members of the Actors Equity Association.

Karlyn Love, who directed Sense and Sensibility at Clackamas Rep in 2018, is directing Man of La Mancha.
