Leapin’ lizards! Clackamas Repertory presents Annie, August 2-26

Musical featuring Hard Knock Life, Tomorrow, Easy Street and other classics is sure to entertain and warm hearts

OREGON CITY, Ore. – July 13, 2018 – America’s favorite orphan takes center stage as Clackamas Repertory Theatre presents the Tony Award® winning musical Annie, August 2-26 at Osterman Theatre on the campus of Clackamas Community College in Oregon City. Performances take place Thursday – Saturday at 7:30pm, with 2:30pm Sunday matinees. August 2 is a low-cost preview performance; the August 3 performance is sold out. Tickets may be purchased at www.ClackamasRep.org or by calling (503) 594-6047.

“We’re delighted to bring this beloved musical about unconditional love to the Clackamas Rep stage,” said Jayne Stevens, who is co-directing the production with Wesley Robert Hanson. “Annie’s rags-to-riches tale is one of optimism and hope, illustrating an America where the best gift of all is helping those in need.”

The cast features Ava Marie Horton as Annie, Andrés Alcalá as Oliver Warbucks and Equity actor Cassi Kohl as the drunken Miss Hannigan. The Clackamas Repertory Theatre production team includes Lars Campbell, music director; Chris Whitten, technical director; Deb Dahling, properties designer; and Jon Quesenberry, vocal director and actor in the role of Rooster.

Stevens is the current assistant managing director of Clackamas Repertory Theatre; this is her third directing credit with the company. She has performed in numerous Clackamas Rep productions and is looking forward to directing Annie, a role she played at the age of 13.

Hanson directed last summer’s hit, The Melody Lingers On, and has choreographed several Clackamas Rep musicals including Oklahoma!, Fiddler on the Roof, Cabaret and Kiss Me Kate.

An opening night post-show reception will be held in the lobby August 4. Clackamas Rep will also provide actor director talkback sessions following the performances on August 10, 17 and 24.

To provide historical background and enhance the audience experience Clackamas Rep will provide pre-show lectures one hour before each performance. The lectures are presented by Dr. Jackie Flowers, a history professor at Clackamas Community College.

Clackamas Repertory Theatre’s production is based on the book Annie by Thomas Meehan and features music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin.
