Northwest premiere of action-packed Sherwood: The Adventures of Robin Hood opens Clackamas Rep’s 15th anniversary season

Swashbuckling comedy features eight actors playing 30+ roles, quick costume changes, sword fights, and stunning set projections

OREGON CITY, Ore. — June 4, 2019 — Clackamas Repertory Theatre’s 15th season opens with the Northwest premiere of Ken Ludwig’s hilarious, fast-paced comedy, Sherwood: The Adventures of Robin Hood, June 27 – July 21 at Osterman Theatre on the campus of Clackamas Community College in Oregon City. Performances take place Thursday – Saturday at 7:30pm, with 2:30pm Sunday matinees. Tickets may be purchased at www.clackamasrep.org or by calling (503) 594-6047.

Much like Clackamas Rep’s 2016 smash hit Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery by Ken Ludwig, Sherwood will keep audiences on their toes with quick wit, fast costume changes and mistaken identities. To help audiences imagine the 17 different English locales in the play, Clackamas Rep has enlisted designers Annie Rimmer-Weeks and Orie Weeks to design and build custom digital projections.

Clackamas Rep’s production of Ludwig’s acclaimed play is directed by Artistic Director David Smith-English.

Sherwood tells the story of Robin Hood, with eight actors playing more than 30 characters. The cast features two Equity actors, John San Nicolas as Robin Hood and Todd Van Voris as Friar Tuck, in addition to Amber Bogdewiecz, Annie Rimmer-Weeks, Tom Walton, Mark Schwahn, Alan King, and Tom Mounsey.

Clackamas Rep’s production team includes Technical Director Chris Whitten, Projection and Sound designers Annie Rimmer-Weeks and Orie Weeks, Costume Designer Sydney Dufka, Fight Choreographer Jonathan Cole, and Properties Designer Micah Steury.

Ken Ludwig is “America’s preeminent comic playwright,” said Barry Edelstein, Artistic Director for The Old Globe theatre company in San Diego, where Sherwood premiered. “Our field has no one else like him. With Sherwood, he has fashioned an extraordinary new take on the legend. The play is a romp full of swashbuckling and romance, and it’s also a moving tale of a young man’s discovery that everyone has a responsibility to care for his fellow man.”

There will be a low-cost preview performance June 27 and an opening night post-show reception June 28. To enhance the audience experience, Clackamas Rep will provide actor/director talkbacks following the July 5, 12, and 19 performances.
