THE ILLUSTRATED MAN

Written by: Ray Bradbury

Directed by: David Smith-English

Featuring: Tobias Andersen

Sept. 27 – Oct. 14, 2007

“When I was twelve years old, a carnival man, Mr. Electrico, introduced me to all his freaks in a side tent. One of the people I met that day was The Illustrated Man, a man covered all over with incredible tattoos. When I was 30, I wrote about that Illustrated Man, and, at long last, wrote him into a play. Tobias Andersen is my favorite Illustrated Man. Behold!”  —  Ray Bradbury

The Illustrated Man, based on many of Ray Bradbury’s short stories, has been cleverly adapted for the stage by Mr. Bradbury and Portland actor and Mt. Hood Rep Artistic Director, Tobias Andersen. The two have been friends since 1977 when Mr. Andersen appeared as Fire Captain Beatty in the stage premiere of Fahrenheit 451. One actor portrays all of the roles in this intriguing new play by one of America’s greatest storytellers.
